LOCATION
Qumran, Judean Desert
Advanced archaeological filmmaking at the home of the Dead Sea Scrolls
This isn’t just any ancient site — Qumran is where the Essenes lived and where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Among the ruins stands a mikveh, a ritual purification bath that had been dry for over 2,000 years. For our feature film production, we envisioned something extraordinary: water flowing once again into that sacred space.
THE IMPOSSIBLE REQUEST
During the global stillness of COVID-19, while Israel stood quiet and the world paused, we approached the Israel Nature and Parks Authority with what seemed like an impossible request:
“Can we refill a 2,000-year-old mikveh for our film?”
Their first response? Understandable hesitation. This wasn’t just a filming location — it was a national heritage site and fragile archaeological treasure.
